Unexpectally flew out

Hello lovelies! Took the bus to school today. It was a non-air con bus. Being such a diligent student, i was conscientiously doing my tutorial in the bus. The bus was moving rather steadily. One minute, my notes were in my hand. The next minute, IT FLEW OUT OF THE WINDOW! What a joke! The girl sitting beside me looked at me with disbelieve.

There you go, this is a story about the notes which flew out of the bus window.

Currently, i have 3 reports due by Friday. So many things to do, yet so little time left! :(

Anyway, after school, went to Novena Church. Hmm, what for? For my Understanding Cross Cultural Diversity project! I’m supposed to choose a religion, which is not of my own and write a report on the impact of the religion on business or work practices. As part of the project requirement, i have to visit the place of worship and interview a religious leader. Well, I chose to do on Catholicism and I’m thankful that i managed to schedule an interview with the Priest! Everyone is working in pairs for the project. But i am working all alone. Why? Because the class is odd numbered. And i am the only one who couldn’t find a pair. So poor thing ah!

I was supposed to include my feelings during the fieldtrip in my report. This is what i wrote eventually:

When i first entered the Church, i was a bit reluctant to walk around as i felt awkward and out of place. When the Mass started, i felt amazed seeing everyone get together and pray in unity to one God. It was then; i felt a sense of togetherness. The Priest and the Church volunteer were helpful and friendly in guiding me through my project. They were great hosts as they made me feel welcome. I did not feel that there was any cultural barrier while we were communicating with one another. It was truly a memorable and knowledgeable experience as i had come to understand more about their religion.

Oh my, i still have a lot more to write for the other parts of the report! God bless me!

About a decade ago

I should shoot myself.

I went for relief teaching again. Since today is the last day of school for the primary school kids, i thought, “Ah nevermind. I should just go for it.” And so, i missed lectures and tutorials again.

It was quite an emotional day for me. Relief a Primary 6 class. The whole day, i was at the hall accompanying the class for their rehearsal because they have a performance for the prize-giving presentation tomorrow. So, the whole Primary 6 cohort were on the stage singing a song while a video of each graduating class was shown. Omg, i almost cried. It is as if i am the one graduating! Perhaps, it made me remember the times i was in Primary School.

You know, when i was in Primary School, i was such a brat. Everyday when i reach home from school, my mum would ask me: “Nina, what did you learn from school?” I would say: “I dont know.”

So, a month before PSLE, i would wake up at 5am every morning to do revisions before going to school. And after school, i would be sitting down doing assessment books while my mum is sitting down beside me with a cane.

My Primary 6 form teacher was such a bitch because she kept saying, “Inside your brain, there is only mud and water.” I would get “U Grade” in exams and my teacher kept pin pointing at me because i had the potential of repeating my PSLE for the second time. Eventually, i passed my PSLE with a grade of 202 and i qualified for the Express stream. 202 may not be a big deal to some, but to me, it was the greatest achievement in my life because for once, i put in tons of effort.

Anyway, after school hours end, i rushed all the way to Dover for my Financial Management tutorial. After a week of not attending school, i miss everyone!

Relief a Primary 3 class today. I was relieving 3.8 while Terence was relieving 3.9. So, our classes were next to each other. I brought some DVDs to school today. Mr Bean Holiday and Shrek 3. Let the class watch the DVDs throughout the whole day. After school, we dismissed the kids and ate lunch together at KFC!

In the morning, before i went for work, i hugged and kissed my grandma on the cheeks. I wish she will have a safe journey. I wanted to cry while i was hugging her, but i put on a brave front and said, “Take care grandma” with a shaky voice.

We had the same break time

School was great! Terence and I had the same break time! So, we went for lunch together. Did the same thing in class today. Let the kids watch Mr Bean on You Tube.

I’m doing relief teaching again tomorrow. Terence is coming too! :)

On it together

Woke up really early to report to school for relief teaching. I was feeling so tired that i went back home to sleep after that. Anyway, this time round, the theme of the toilet that i went to was “beach paradise”.

Painted on the doors of the cubicles

Painted on the walls

They even had birds hanging around

Met Terence in the evening. Dinner was at Pizza Hut :)

The bread sticks and soup came pretty fast. But, the rate of eating my pasta was even faster.

After dinner, went to the movies. We watched the James bond movie. I must say, it was really good! :)

Alright, i’m tired and i have to wake up early tomorrow for relief teaching. Guess what? Terence is coming to the same Primary School as me for relief teaching tomorrow! I hope we will have the same break time!

Off to sleep now!

How tired? Dead tired.

I’m dead tired! Went to work at Isetan Tampines. Dinner was at home. Everyone from the family gather over dinner because grandma is leaving for haj.

I’m feeling sad already. In 3 days time, grandma will be on the plane to Mecca. I’m going to miss her.

My grandma will be flying off this Wednesday for pilgrimage (haj). In case you haven’t know or in case I’ve never told you, my grandma is from Indonesia. She often miss her brother and sisters. She never fails to call them to ask how they are doing. If possible, she would visit them every year. I guess, as a surprise before she goes for haj, my aunt bought tickets for my grand-aunt and grand-uncle in Indonesia. They reached Singapore by the morning flight.

Dinner was with family! All of us went to the Food Village at East Coast. My aunt rented a van. So, the whole family squeezed into one van! Unfortunately, we underestimated the amount of space available. Eventually, Sara and I had to sit on the floor of the van. It was fun though!

I think i ate loads and loads of FOOD! I love cockles (kerang)!

Ok, the cockles was really tasty. I cant stop eating it until Sara “accidentally” ate a smelly cockle which smells like shit. It was really funny. She said, “The cockles taste so nice. Then, when i opened one, it was smelly. Despite smelling like shit, i just ate it.”

Seconds after she put the smelly cockles into her mouth, she suddenly let out and shrieked. She said her hands and mouth are smelly. She kept saying, “Ohh! I think i ate shit.”

haha. No, she did not eat shit. She ate a smelly cockle. You’re not supposed to eat a smelly cockle when you open one! haha.

The primary school called me again in the afternoon. I am going to do relief teaching in the morning. In the afternoon, i will rush back to school for lectures!

She’s gone

It was a hectic day in school! Took a Primary 3 class and as expected, they were bursting with energy. Thankfully, every class is equipped with a computer. So, to make them sit quietly at their places, i let them watch Mr.Bean cartoon on You Tube.

During lunch, i was feeling really hungry and greedy. Guess what i had? Cheese fries from KFC and Double cheeseburger from McDonald’s! Omg! Because i had too much cheese and mayonnaise, i am not eating dinner!

Went home and found out that Wati had left. She went back to the maid agency in the morning. Although i always feel angry with the way she does things, thinking about her somehow made me sad because she has been with us for months.

It is up to me and my sisters to do our own laundry now! Gosh, there’s no one to help me clean my room! :(

I had a long day

Posted in alfabeto, corazón y amor on November 6, 2008 by Nina Lareina Adam

Went for relief teaching in the morning. I had to wake up at 5am – Imagine that! It was my first time going to the Primary School in Seng Kang and i was so afraid that i would be late if i lost my way! I took the bus and i was lucky when i saw some of the students going to that school. I followed them and my morning went perfectly fine because i was early and i managed to find my way.

Omg, the school is so big since it is new. They had 4 different blocks and i was lucky to be given a map of the school. The place which totally amazed me was the toilet. It was so well decorated! I wouldn’t mind staying in the toilet for a long time if i have a stomachache! haha.

By the time i end, it was 1pm. I quickly left and took a bus to Seng Kang interchange. I had to take my lunch and rush back to school by train before tutorial starts! Oh yes, i forget to mention that in the midst of rushing, i even had the time to shop for a pair of sandals. The shoe i was wearing gave me blisters. When i saw a pair of gold sandals being displayed, i took it off the shelves and went to the cashier to pay for it. I love it so much that i couldnt stop staring at it while i was wearing it. haha.
After all those rushing and sweating, i reached school on time! UNFORTUNATELY, the tutor had to attend to an emergency, so she cancelled the tutorial class! OMG, i felt as though i rushed back all the way to school for nothing! From Seng Kang to Dover is not a short distance, ok!
So, since i had no class, i called Terence to tell him that i was able to accompany him to the ICA building to make his new IC. The whole process of making a new IC was fast – Perhaps because there was no crowd.

After we left the building, we walked to Arab Street to have hot milk tea since it was too early to have our dinner. We sat and talked till our stomach started growling,

Dinner was at Swensens. I love white cream sauce and cheese! So, it didnt take me a long time to decide on the baked rice.

Terence had chicken with BBQ sauce.

Dinner was definitely an appetizing one. We spent the rest of the night walking around Bugis Street. It was a long day and i’m feeling so tired. Oh god, i need to wake up early tomorrow for relief teaching again!

Ready, charged

Every Monday and Tuesday is ‘NO SLIPPER DAY’ because Our Marketing Research lecturer will check our feet to make sure we are wearing either shoes or sandals. Since it is Wednesday, we’re wearing slippers again. But, if we are ever get caught wearing slippers in school, we’ll be fined $50!

I’m will be doing relief teaching for two days at a primary school. After that, i will still rush back to school for my tutorials. Tiring!

Attended

Interesting day i must say. Woke up really early to attend the Young PAP Convention.

The convention ended with a speech by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community, Youth and Sports. After which, it was followed by the passing of positions to the new team of Executive Committee members. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Teo Ser Luck is now the new chairman of YP.

I had no idea that Dr Vivian Balakrishnan was the Chairman of YP for 6 years. I just found out today. At least, i learnt something new. :)
