Tricked into, the loop

Posted in corazón y amor, quiero a mi familia on October 10, 2009 by Nina Lareina Adam

This is not the first time i’ve been tricked into taking long bus rides. Apparently, the bus guide shows that the destination is only 3-4 bus stops away. But, the ride somehow took almost an hour because the bus guide was inaccurate. The bus looped at somewhere, before reaching the desired stop. Can you imagine how torturing that can be to the butt? Really. Train rides are more direct.

Lost track.

Second day of Hari Raya. Cousin came for visiting today. I just realised something. My cousin have so many kids till i’ve lost track of their names. I asked my sister and she dont know too. Was wondering, if i happen to have so many kids in the future, would anyone lost track too?

Anyway, i was sick of eating sambal goreng and lontong. Been eating those for 3 days! So, met boyfriend for dinner at Sakura :)

First day of Hari Raya. Visited cousin’s place in the afternoon and had my aunt and cousins at my place in the evening. We played with sparklers and constantly stuffed ourselves with food.

Hari raya always remind me of grandpa and uncle. Those times spent celebrating the joyous occasion with them. They are not around anymore but i feel thankful that i still have the rest of my loved ones with me. Hari Raya is always great with family :)

Three days

Posted in corazón y amor, quiero a mi familia on September 5, 2009 by Nina Lareina Adam

The three days

Its great that Boyfriend was out of camp on Thursday. We had a really good conversation during dinner. Went for a late night movie and i must say, Final Destination 4 was a total waste of time. I didn’t enjoy it at all! The entire show is about people dying in gruesome ways and i dont find that meaningful at all. I think the producer is sick to have come up with such storyline. Got home in the late morning at 4:00 AM by cab.

Late Friday night was spent at Shahrin’s 22nd birthday BBQ.

Photobucket

While the guys were busy talking about NS, i spent the time dipping my feet into the hot pool with Liyanah. A security came later to told us off  since we were not supposed to do that with proper swimming attire. Feeling embarrassed, we had to look around and make sure that no one noticed both of us getting dissed by the security guard.

After the BBQ, we had supper because some of us were still hungry. Halfway through supper, it rained so heavily. It was then, i decide to stay over.

I returned home on Saturday afternoon after a movie. Watched I love you, Beth Cooper with boyfriend. I didn’t quite like it though i find one scene super hilarious. Boyfriend on the other hand, kept laughing like monkey.

Saturday evening was spent at home with family. Celebrated grandma’s and cousin’s birthday.

Seriously, all these late nights makes me feel that the holidays are truly here for me to enjoy!

Fire Burning

Posted in quiero a mi familia on August 13, 2009 by Nina Lareina Adam

I was still up at 3:00 AM doing my final year project when i smell something burning. Since my laptop was on for more than 12 hours, i thought it was going to explode! I ignored the smell for a few minutes. Then, i got worried. Took a peek outside my window and i saw thick black smoke!!! Gosh. Something was really burning! Wake my sister up and told her, “Something burning!” Later, we found out that the recycling bin was on fire. My sister asked, “Want to take water and put out the fire?” I was thinking, thats quite a big fire. So, i called the police & waited for the fireman to arrive. While waiting, we saw a neighbour wearing only boxers without any shirt on. He brought a pail and was trying to put out the fire using water. So, both of us went to change and quickly took a pail to help him. By the time we were all ready, the  fireman arrived. We stood at our corridor for a few minutes till the fire was completely put out.

When everything ended at 4:00 AM, my mum woke up complaining, “Why are all the lights on?” and we told her, “Did you know the recycling bin was on fire?!!” My mum cares about the environment. So earlier that night, she had thrown plastic bottles into the recycling bin. To think the stuffs that was meant to be recycled is badly burnt now.  and the smell of burning plastic was just terrible.

Because of the fire, i couldn’t stop singing to Fire Burning by Sean Kingston. It is stuck in my head! The song goes.. “Somebody call 911! Shawty fire burning on the dancefloor. Whoa.” Maybe you can substitute the word “dancefloor” to “recycling bin” hehe.

All kinds

Didn’t have to come school today and because i was home, i had breakfast in bed! Mum made breakfast for me & sent them to my room. So nice of her. I should count myself lucky :) And the day just gets better. While lunch was a plate of delicious mee goreng, dinner was chicken rice with crispy spicy drumlets. Everything cooked by mum. and oh, i had all kind of fruits. Banana, mango, green grapes and plum. Since its my dad’s birthday today, we had chocolate brownie cake too.  HAHA. I’m going to get fat!

Bribed

Posted in quiero a mi familia on August 10, 2009 by Nina Lareina Adam

I’m so tired. My mum woke me up at noon because she wants me to go my aunt’s place for  family gathering. I barely had 6 hours of sleep. I need about 11-15 hours of sleep a day, remember? I was reluctant and i kept complaining how tired i was. I purposely took a long shower which lasted more than half an hour. After the shower, searched for breakfast because i was feeling really hungry. Looked at the dining table and i saw… KFC waffle & eggs breakfast set and the twister meal! My mum suddenly said, “That’s breakfast for you.” Gosh. I feel so bad for throwing my temper at her. So nice of her to get breakfast for me! See… i can be bribed with nice food. haha. After breakfast, i got dressed and accompanied my mum to my aunt house till evening.

Went back home and found another aunt and cousin at my place! Omg. I spent the whole day eating. In the afternoon, there was food at my aunt’s place. In the evening, another aunt brought food to my house. Food at both places! I feel so stuffed. I’ve been eating too much these few days, eh?

Scraped

Posted in corazón y amor, quiero a mi familia on August 2, 2009 by Nina Lareina Adam

I know i can be really clumsy. Few months back, i stepped on a hair clip and it pierced my feet. Imagine pulling out a hair clip from your feet… And today, my leg got stuck between my bed.  When i pull my leg out, i could feel something scratching my feet. Initially, i thought it was a small cut. Taking a closer look, i saw a long stretch of white skin. I touched it and i could almost feel my bone. It was then i realised that a metal piece had scraped some skin off my feet. Shocked and confused, i screamed for my mum. By then, blood started oozing out from the wound.

I know i’m so troublesome. On a Sunday morning, Mum and sister had to accompany me to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Photobucket

We were required to wear masks. Haha. My mum looked like a ninja :)

I’m having cough for about of month already. Because of that, they transferred me to an isolated area for those with fever. No one is allowed to accompany the patient. So, my mum and sister went shopping while i sat there all alone.

Photobucket

When my name was called out, the nurse asked my purpose of visit. She thought i was having fever or something. At first, i told her i fell down and hurt my feet. Then…when  i told her i’m having cough for a month already, she was like, “Huh? 1 month?!!!” I was asked to take urine test and x-ray to confirm that i wasn’t having H1N1.  I guess they were more concerned about my cough than my bleeding feet! In the first place, i’m there for the purpose of my feet. Not for my cough!

After taking x-ray of my lungs, the nurse cleaned my wound. She used some kind of stretchable plaster to close the gap between the wound. Its similar to stitching but without using thread and needle. I swear, i would cry if she did sew my skin together.

Before i left, the doctor told me my lungs are fine. So, i’m not infected with H1N1. I was  given an injection, medication and 3 days MC. By the time everything was over, i was feeling damn hungry. I had double cheeseburger, fries, durian puff, Old Chang Kee fried chicken and porridge at one go. I’m such a pig.

Anyway, i know my bed looked harmless.

Photobucket

Look closely…

Photobucket

Thats the metal piece that scraped my skin off my feet! and it all happened because my leg was stuck in between that gap! When i met boyfriend for dinner in the evening, i can’t help it but to show him my “pitiful” face. That was to win his sympathy vote. haha. What a day!

Some might have realised that i’ve been using the classic Nokia black and white phone for quite some time. I cant stick to one phone for very long. I’ll damage it somehow. Being jobless right now, i cant afford a new phone for myself. I needed a new phone so badly because the classic Nokia phone had limited storage space. I always get this displayed across the screen, “NO SPACE FOR NEW MESSAGES.” Well thankfully, my wishes was answered because my mum just got a new one for me!!! Its white, touch screen, a camera with a flash function and not forgetting, awesome functions!  At last, a decent phone. I feel so lucky right now :)

Thanks mummy.

Ok, i’ll try not to drop it or spoil it. If not, i’ll have use the classic Nokia black and white “NO SPACE FOR NEW MESSAGES” phone again.

At the moment, wherever you go, you’ll hear Michael Jackson’s songs playing at the background. In the train, a guy was blasting his ears to black or white. At a CD store, they were playing his songs and showing his video clips. At the cinema, they played his songs before screening a movie.  Be it Black or White, Smooth Criminal or “Billie Jean”, i find myself singing to his songs.

Boyfriend said something like (even if it is not his exact words, the meaning is still there), “Eh, your singing is a disaster.” Since he said that, i am more determined to practice and sing more often to him. haha.

Went back home with little sister.

Fat camp

Posted in quiero a mi familia on June 21, 2009 by Nina Lareina Adam

I just got back from fat camp. I temporarily abolish my “No late night snacks” rule and gobbled up any food that was in sight. Usually, i would be very concerned about fat and sodium content. But the weekend made me a glutton.

Other than resting my bum at the chalet all day, i did put my energy to good use. I went cycling yesterday. Since i haven’t cycled for a very long time, i just remembered how tiring it can get.

After the BBQ,  we left the chalet for a midnight movie. Sara bought popcorn and since she was sitting beside me, it was hard to keep my hands off the popcorn box.

After the movie, the adults went to sleep while the young ones were awake playing ‘The Game of Life’. Ok, i stuffed my mouth with marshmallows during the game. I was feeling so hungry already (after the box of popcorn)!

Now, you can’t tell me i wasn’t being a glutton. haha.

Selamat Hari Raya Haji

Visited my dad at the hospital today. After that, did some Hari Raya visiting. Went back home in the afternoon.

Met Terence at night for awhile today. We met at around 10pm! He was out in the evening because he was sending his mum off at the Airport. His mum is going to Australia to attend his sister’s graduation ceremony. They will be back on Christmas. Although it was getting late, we still wanted to meet each other. After all, we’re only left with 2 more days before he is finally enlisted :(

Admittance

I can do the Wala Wala dance
Oh finally! 3 weeks of holiday. Exams are over and i can finally catch up on the 108373643846++ seconds of sleep.

So much things happened last night. Dad was admitted to the hospital because he was feeling so sick. My sisters and i were watching “Army Daze” together when my dad told my mum that he wants to see the doctor. Initially, my mum wanted to take a cab to a 24hr clinic. But my dad couldn’t walk properly. So, we called an ambulance instead. We waited for 10 minutes under the block but the ambulance was no where in sight. So, my mum decided to cancel the Ambulance and flag a cab to the hospital. My sister and i ran to the main road to flag a cab. Suddenly, we saw the ambulance turning into the carpark. We ran back to our block and told mum that the ambulance is finally here. Surprisingly, we saw our cousin, who is a medic coming out of the ambulance. She was on duty that night.

My mum wanted them to take my dad to Tan Tock Seng because my dad’s medical record is at Tan Tock Seng. Unfortuantely,Tan Tock Seng was full house that night. They have no choice but to bring my dad to Changi Hospital. My mum was reluctant but eventually agreed. So, my mum accompanied my dad into the ambulance and she told us to take a cab to Changi Hospital to meet her there. We were already up in the house when my mum called again and said that it would be better to go to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Omg! My sister and i ran down again. We ran to the main road and finally got a cab. One of my sister accompanied my mum while another stayed home with me. Oh yes, what a night!

At around 5am, my mum came back telling us that my dad is admitted to hospital for a few days due to lung infection. At around 8am, my mum woke up and told my sisters and I that she couldn’t get any sleep because she was feeling very worried. She got ready and left the house to visit my dad at the hospital. I hope my dad will recover soon.

Anyway, went to make a new pair of spectacles with my sisters. Met Terence for awhile at night. Thanks darling for comforting me! :)

Relief a Primary 3 class today. I was relieving 3.8 while Terence was relieving 3.9. So, our classes were next to each other. I brought some DVDs to school today. Mr Bean Holiday and Shrek 3. Let the class watch the DVDs throughout the whole day. After school, we dismissed the kids and ate lunch together at KFC!

In the morning, before i went for work, i hugged and kissed my grandma on the cheeks. I wish she will have a safe journey. I wanted to cry while i was hugging her, but i put on a brave front and said, “Take care grandma” with a shaky voice.

How tired? Dead tired.

I’m dead tired! Went to work at Isetan Tampines. Dinner was at home. Everyone from the family gather over dinner because grandma is leaving for haj.

I’m feeling sad already. In 3 days time, grandma will be on the plane to Mecca. I’m going to miss her.

With nothing but your t-shirt on

Posted in quiero a mi familia on November 8, 2008 by Nina Lareina Adam

My grandma will be flying off this Wednesday for pilgrimage (haj). In case you haven’t know or in case I’ve never told you, my grandma is from Indonesia. She often miss her brother and sisters. She never fails to call them to ask how they are doing. If possible, she would visit them every year. I guess, as a surprise before she goes for haj, my aunt bought tickets for my grand-aunt and grand-uncle in Indonesia. They reached Singapore by the morning flight.

Dinner was with family! All of us went to the Food Village at East Coast. My aunt rented a van. So, the whole family squeezed into one van! Unfortunately, we underestimated the amount of space available. Eventually, Sara and I had to sit on the floor of the van. It was fun though!

I think i ate loads and loads of FOOD! I love cockles (kerang)!

Ok, the cockles was really tasty. I cant stop eating it until Sara “accidentally” ate a smelly cockle which smells like shit. It was really funny. She said, “The cockles taste so nice. Then, when i opened one, it was smelly. Despite smelling like shit, i just ate it.”

Seconds after she put the smelly cockles into her mouth, she suddenly let out and shrieked. She said her hands and mouth are smelly. She kept saying, “Ohh! I think i ate shit.”

haha. No, she did not eat shit. She ate a smelly cockle. You’re not supposed to eat a smelly cockle when you open one! haha.

The primary school called me again in the afternoon. I am going to do relief teaching in the morning. In the afternoon, i will rush back to school for lectures!

Pieces in a bag

Posted in corazón y amor, quiero a mi familia on October 12, 2008 by Nina Lareina Adam
On Friday night, went for Hari Raya house visiting at night. The funny thing was, i brought along all the items needed for the chalet since i was going to the chalet after I was done with all the visiting. So, i looked really weird carrying a big bag and an extra carrier to each house . After i was done with all the visiting, met Terence at Tampines Interchange. Went to the toilet to change from a demure looking kebaya to bermudas and shirt. From there, we took a bus to the chalet at Changi.
I must say, the first night was great! Went for supper at Changi Village. After that, we walked around before returning back to the chalet. We played cards and stayed up till almost 6 in the morning!

The next day, woke up at noon for breakfast. Went to the beach with Jacintha and Jasmine to pick up sea shells from the shore. In the evening, followed Terence and Jeremy to catch crab. It was so cool!
They managed to catch 3 crabs and a fish!

The barbeque was at night. I ate sate, otah, fried bee hoon, fried chicken and a little too much which was adequate to pile on more calories. In addition, we had nasi lemak for supper. I’m such a pig.

The next day, we slept our asses off till almost 4 in the afternoon. I did some swimming in the evening and i dont think all those swimming in the water was enough to burn off at least half of the fats that i’ve accumulated over the past few days. I even ate my heart out for dinner.

The weekend was GREAT and i cant believe i have school tomorrow! Oh, what a drag.

No pink next time

SELAMAT HARI RAYA

Hari Raya will always be a happy occasion with my cousins around. With ample fun and laughter, the whole house would be entirely filled with nothing mundane or monotonous but only with clamor and joy.

Moreover, I CANT STOP EATING! I will put on more weight in no time!

Anyway, i would rather drop dead than be caught wearing a ‘hot pink’ baju kurung. This year – Unfortunately, my mum and sisters were feeling really enthusiastic to wear a pink baju kurung on the first day of Hari Raya. My mum wanted us to wear similar colour, so I had no choice but to comply with her request. I looked so awful in pink. The whole day, i walked around the whole house whining and complaining about it.

Mummy, next year, we better wear golden brown or white baju kurung. No purple, pink, orange or yellow. Ok? :)

My grandmother turned 17 today. Oh yes, she insisted that she is celebrating her sweet 17 birthday. She actually turned 71 today. Ok, so here it goes: HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY NENEK!
I cant seemed to stuff myself with tons of food after fasting the whole day! I thought, after going through the whole day with an empty stomach, i could eat without having second thoughts about putting on excessive amount of saturated fats. But after the first serving, i was waving my white flag and laying down on the sofa with a bloated tummy. So, just because you skipped breakfast and lunch, it does not mean that you can eat more during dinner!!
HAHA.

The turtle that didnt breathe

Posted in quiero a mi familia on June 25, 2008 by Nina Lareina Adam

I’m feeling damn exhausted. I cant believe they squeezed 5 papers within a week. It is so torturing! I’ve not been having enough sleep and i feel like a zombie. 2 hours of sleep per day is really depreciating my energy.

In the evening, received a call from my sister. My grandmother was admitted to the hospital due to high blood pressure. Made me really worried. Visited her at night.

I pray for my grandmother to get well soon.

While on the way home, my sister messaged me this:

“nina, my turtle at home”
and this is the turtle she was talking about in the message:

HAHA!

Ok, i’m going to sleep now. Got to wake up at 3am to study! :(

11 months and counting

Posted in corazón y amor, escuela, quiero a mi familia on May 11, 2008 by Nina Lareina Adam

Went for CCA drive last week. Wanted to join sports so badly. I seriously need to do some exercise because i’m getting fatter. Initially, wanted to join badminton club but their registration and selection trials are over. Then, started thinking of joining tennis or track and field. But i end up joining peer support group instead. So, in future if you’re having problems or depressed, come to me for counselling. Evryone seems so busy with their CCA and complaining they have so many commitments. I, on the other hand feels that i have plenty of time in my hand.

I love the modules for this semester! I’m enjoying school. Really! :) and i’ve been working during the weekends. Omg!

Met Terence after work. Went to te movies. Watched Forbidden Kingdom. I had my laugh. Its good and really funny. :)

Wanted to give mummy her birthday and mother’s day present before i went for work, but she wasnt at home. Left the presents with my sisters and asked them to pass it to my mum. While i was on my way home, received an SMS from her. Omg, her SMS makes me want to cry! Touch my heart. Really. I’m glad she liked what i got for her. :) I love my mum.

Happy Birthday Mummy

Posted in corazón y amor, quiero a mi familia on May 4, 2008 by Nina Lareina Adam

Woke up early to cut my hair. Ok, i hate the haircut. I’m so not going to that salon again! I only wanted to trim my spoiled ends but..! The aunty took the scissors and thinned my hair. Omg! I feel as though i’ve got no more hair left because my hair is so thin! I prefer thicker hair. and when i asked my sisters about my hair, they said: “No difference lah! Your hair still looks the same.” NO! It’s not the same. It’s thinner and i dont like it at all. :(

Had Mum’s birthday dinner at Tambuah Mas with family in the evening. The food was great! But their servings..are so little! I enjoyed the dinner. So did my mum! :)

After the dinner, mum, dad and grandma took a cab home while my sisters and i went shopping! Went to Max & More at Wisma. Saw this really pretty top! Convinced Sara to buy the top and insist that the three of us can share it or take turns to wear. $$ K-ching! and she bought it. haha.

After walking around, felt so tired and thirsty. Went to Shaw house Mc Donalds. We wanted to get a drink, but we were damn lazy to get our butt off the chair to queue up for a regular iced lemon tea. Luckily, we saw our uncle! He asked, “What are you are doing here?” and we told him “We are just sitting down. Very tired. and thirsty. But we’re lazy want to queue up. Waiting for one of us to get up and buy a drink”

and so, he went to queue up for the drinks. He bought each one of us a drink and sat with us for awhile before he head home.

By then, it was getting late. Sara and Nadiah took the train home while i walked to Cineleisure to meet Terence for a late night movie. Watched Iron man. I love the show! I want to watch it again or buy the DVD. Very nice show. Very very nice!

Ok, reached home around 4 plus in the morning. There’s work tomorrow. At 11 am? I’m better get to sleep.

A reason to stuff myself

Selamat Hari Raya!

The moment i wake from my sleep, i was all ready to begin pigging out on all the lontong, rendang and sambal goreng! Went to visit my grandma in the afternoon.

and for the whole day, i have been eating non stop!
