Tricked into, the loop

Posted in corazón y amor, quiero a mi familia on October 10, 2009 by Nina Lareina Adam

This is not the first time i’ve been tricked into taking long bus rides. Apparently, the bus guide shows that the destination is only 3-4 bus stops away. But, the ride somehow took almost an hour because the bus guide was inaccurate. The bus looped at somewhere, before reaching the desired stop. Can you imagine how torturing that can be to the butt? Really. Train rides are more direct.

A different tune, something different

Posted in alfabeto on October 8, 2009 by Nina Lareina Adam

I’m having sore throat from all those shouting in class. I’m feeling really tired. Now i understand when they say “Kids are quite a handful”. Took Primary 1 and 2 classes for two days. They are so hyperactive. Difficult at times to teach and make them do their work quietly. It is still manageable but tiring! You know, there will always be some who’d come up to complain about things like, “Teacher, he don’t want to friend me” or “Teacher, that boy push my table”. Sometimes, i’m left speechless. and there is one thing i  dread about being a teacher. Marking those pile of papers!! So tedious!

The primary school i went to this time was  great! Instead of the regular “kringgg!”, the sound of the bell was the tune of Aladdin’s “A whole new world”. Something different. and i cant help it but to sing along to the tune. haha.

No nonsense

Posted in alfabeto on October 5, 2009 by Nina Lareina Adam

Went for relief teaching duty today. I think i’m getting good at showing a stern and “dont give me any nonsense” face to the students. The last period of the day was science. When i entered the class, everyone was at their seats reading their story books. Then, a boy carried his chair and sat next to another friend. Obviously, he wanted to talk to his friend. I couldn’t allow him to. If i did, the rest would follow suit and its only a matter of time before everyone starts moving around to talk to their friends. I folded my arms, looked at him and asked, “Where do you think you are going? Get back to your desk now.” and he did as told.

Few minutes later, i had to scold a few boys sitting in front for making noises. Then, i saw this boy laying his head on the table. I thought he was secretly talking to his friend. So, i asked him to stand up. I think he didnt know i was referring to him. Then, i stood up and pointed at him. Everyone went, “Huh? Him? He is the class monitor. Prefect somemore.” Instantly, i felt embarrassed. Because, i thought that boy was talking. Actually, he wasn’t. He was quietly reading a book while laying his head on the table. I was wrong. and i couldn’t possibly say, “Oh, ok. Sit down now.” I let him stand for a few minute before asking him to sit down again. I felt guilty scolding a boy who didn’t do anything wrong.

Know what made my day? Another boy kept turning behind to say something to his friend. I made him stand. and when i asked him to sit down, he apologetically said “Sorry Teacher.” I felt, “Wow! That “dont give me any nonsense” look really worked” haha. I think i’m getting good at maintaining discipline in class.

After lunch, we dropped by Cold Storage supermarket. Jumping in excitement, i wanted to check if they were selling Caprisonne. And yes, they did have it! We wanted  grape. But they only had apple. I dont know about you, but this was our favourite childhood drink. Wah, fond memories!

In the evening, we went for a movie. Inglorious Basterds was hours long, but i loved it! After the movie, went for  supper because i was feeling darn hungry. Spent so much time with boyfriend this weekend. Now that i’m at home, i’m starting to miss him. Know what i miss the most? Hearing him snore in the middle of the night. The boy snores like baby dinosaur. How cute! haha.

But they only had apple :( Boyfriend and i love grape. This was our so-called childhood drink.

Reverse

Went for relief teaching duty today. Primary 2 kids are so adorable! If you thought the older ones would behave better in class, think again! Actually, they are the ones making the most noise.  The younger ones, on the other hand, behave better. Whenever i see a Primary 6 class on my timetable, i know i’m going to have a headache. Not easy controlling a class of active kids and i always get home feeling  like as if  my energy had been fully drained out from my body. But, being in class is great. Sometimes, seeing how they behave can put a smile on my face. Kids are kids. and they always remind me of myself when i was once like them.
